Wondering what to expect at a support group meeting?
In a safe and respectful environment, we freely discuss our condition (migraines and headaches) and our current or future treatments; share our tips and tricks, our hopes and fears. We encourage and comfort each other with compassion.
There is a facilitator who supervises the meeting. This facilitator also makes sure to answer your questions as well as he/she is able, not being a doctor or health professional. The facilitator will follow up if necessary. In the majority of our regional groups, there is no theme to avoid limiting or influencing participation.
Most participants feel relieved to break isolation and meet other people, “in the flesh”, who are experiencing similar things and whose daily lives are similar. We try to maintain a positive and proactive tone in the group by focusing on our abilities and strengths. You are welcome to come join us for these helpful discussions!
